NTU/NHN Workshop

A joint workshop being held between the Nederlandse Taalunie and the National HLT Network. Due to the nature of the workshop, only a limited number of participants could be invited.

The main goal of the workshop is to discuss the mechanisms which would allow HLT researchers to collaborate, and to plan accordingly. Opportunities will be provided to discuss and share related information regarding:

  • National priorities related to HLT
  • Current and recent HLT projects and initiatives
  • The status of HLT teaching and training
  • HLT industry opportunities
  • Institutional priorities related to HLT
  • Known mechanisms supporting collaboration
  • Additional mechanisms required to stimulate and support collaboration among the three countries

The workshop will be held on 24 and 25 November 2008, at the Monkey Valley Resort, Noordhoek, South Africa.

The Nederlandse Taalunie (Dutch Language Union) is an international treaty organization in which the governments of the Netherlands, Flanders and Suriname work together to strengthen the position of the Dutch language.

The National HLT Network is a joint initiative of the South African Department of Science and Technology and the Meraka Institute, CSIR. Its main aim is to stimulate and support HLT research and development in South Africa, in line with national priorities.
