Add Edit Content

Adding, editing and publishing any content.

Adding new content

Add Menu
Adding anything to  a folder you own, be it your home folder or your private tools folder etc. like a page (as this before your eyes), an image, any type of file, or internal objects like news or event items are easy achievable by simply selecting the appropriate object from the 'add item' menu, and filling in the necessary fields in the resulting form.

Note that the internal objects 'Events' and 'News' must be added to your home file, and not directly to their respective upper-level folders. The content will be automatically added where it belongs once it is published.

Plone has a easy to use WYSIWYG-editor (called 'KUPU') which can be used to create the body of the added page, event or news item. However, it is possible for users to edit the content of the page using HTML.

The page must be saved after the form is filled in. this is done by clicking the 'Save' button on the bottom of the form.

Editing existing content

Existing content may be edited by simply clicking the 'edit' tab above the page. This will open the same form filled in when the content was first added. Any changes then can then be made and again saved.

Status Menu

At first, all content are in a 'public draft' state. This means that the page can be viewed, if a anonymous user knows about it, and it will be displayed in the search function. However, it does not appear in the navigation slot.

The state can be altered, by clicking the 'state' menu and selecting the appropriate state:

  •     Public draft    :Content is available, but does not appear in the navigation slot
  •     Private        :Content is not available to the outside or other members, but other owners and managers of the site may still view and edit it.
  •     Visible        :Changing a Private-state item back to Public draft.
  •     Published    :Content is available to all, and appears in the navigation slot. By default, only Reviewers and Managers may publish any content, and thus everything must first be submitted. However, any user in the 'Meraka Group' may publish content on the hlt site.
  •     Submit        :All content must be submitted before it can be published. However, once submitted or published content may only be edited after retracting it again.
  •     Retract        :Retract submitted or published content for editing. After content has been retracted, it has to be submitted again.
  •     Rejected    :Submitted content rejected by a reviewer or manager.
