Announcement: 2nd Euro-Africa Cooperation Forum on ICT Research, 2010

The 2nd Euro-Africa Cooperation Forum on ICT Research takes place on 2 February, 2010, at the United Nations Conference Centre in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The CSIR's Meraka Institute is a member of the European 7th Research Framework Programme (EU/FP7) EuroAfriCa-ICT project, which is responsible for this event.

The event will bring together Sub-Saharan African and European organisations to address the development of collaborative projects on information and communications technology (ICT) research. Organised by the European Commission (Information Society and Media Directorate-General) with the support of the African Union Commission (AUC) and the EuroAfriCa-ICT project, the forum offers event attendees a unique opportunity to:

  • Network with key stakeholders in the field (private and public sector)
  • Identify potential cooperation partners
  • Become updated on the EU-AU Partnership on Science, ICT and Space (the 8th Partnership) and the European Commission (EC)/AUC/African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) programmes
  • Hear about opportunities to enhance African participation in the EU/FP7
  • Obtain detailed information on successful EU-African FP7 cooperation projects and EU-African PPP (public-private partnerships)

The second forum follows the success of the first, in Brussels, Belgium, in March, 2009, which was attended by 320 participants representing 50 different countries.
