Meraka Institute represented at VoIP World Africa 2006 24 May 2006 Yusuf Kaka of the Meraka Institute's Wireless Africa initiative recently participated in the VoiP World Africa Conference held at Sandton from 8-11 May 2006. Kaka, a specialist in wireless connectivity and MESH networking, participated as a panelist. Voice-over Internet Protocol or VoIP provides the possibility to conduct telephone conversations over data networks like the internet. Kaka's paper, which he delivered at the event, entitled Future of VoIP and the race for wireless VoIP access, which technology will prevail? compares the use of three leading wireless access technologies together with VoIP as a replacement for current cellular telephony.
