National Accessibility Portal - Use of the system

The National Accessibility Portal initiative proposes the creation of a national networking ICT system for disability. The system will be based on Internet technologies and use open source software to respond to these challenges and to enhance the development and independent living of persons with disabilities.

Information will be retrieved when using the portal. People will be able to communicate directly via email, audio and video link, using broadband technologies.

Specific uses of the system:

  • Acquiring life skills to improve daily living of persons with disabilities
  • Determining availability of national and international disability products
  • Accessing national and local disability statistics, policies and legislation
  • Obtaining transport and location maps of people and facilities
  • Accessing interactive training and information on disability-related products
  • Using on-line training towards ICT skills development and education
  • Creating an employment brokering service online, promoting job opportunities in the ICT sector
